Fred Meek Memorial Seminar

The 2007 Seminar will be held on Sunday, November 4. It will offer 8.5 hours of Oregon Board Certified Continuing Education credit. This will be the 32th anniversary of the Fred Meek Memorial Seminar and we invite you to join us. Don't miss it!

Who was Fred Meek?

A direct descendent of the famous pioneer "mountain man" Joseph Meek, Fred Meek was a man with a heritage.

Fred, who operated a pharmacy in Southeast Portland for half a century, served the community in many ways. He served in the Oregon State Legislature for four sessions and was active in several pharmacy organizations. He was instrumental in the formation of the Portland Retail Druggist's Association.

His many friends remember him for his cheery, helpful attitude and bulldog determination. He was always good for a story but was more interested in listening to yours.

Fred Meek died several months after being pistol-whipped in a robbery of his pharmacy. His collegues honored him in various ways. The American Pharmaceutical Association voted him an honorary president. The Oregon Legislature proclaimed a Fred Meek Day.

It is to honor the heritage of Fred Meek that this annual seminar is dedicated.
